Azure Data Engineer (Senior Manager Level)

The Role:
Join a 150+ employee scale-up digital transformation consultancy as a Data Engineer (Senior Manager).
This role is a blend of remote working, office-based collaboration at their Bristol office, and expensed client site visits across the South of England.
You’ll play a key role in leading delivery, shaping data architecture, and guiding teams, while remaining close to the technology.
What you’ll do
- Lead end-to-end delivery of data engineering workstreams, including planning, estimation, and ensuring successful outcomes
- Manage risks, issues, and dependencies, keeping projects on track and aligned to client expectations
- Design and oversee scalable, secure data platforms and pipelines (batch, streaming, API-driven)
- Make key decisions on architecture, tooling, and design patterns, ensuring solutions are fit-for-purpose and cost-effective
- Stay hands-on where needed, supporting complex builds and technical problem-solving
- Work closely with clients to understand requirements and shape practical, high-value solutions
- Lead and mentor data engineers and cross-functional teams
- Define and promote data engineering best practices and standards
- Support proposal work and client growth where required
What you’ll bring
- Extensive people management experience.
- Experience leading projects or workstreams end-to-end
- Strong background in data engineering (pipelines, ETL, data platforms)
- Experience with Azure data services including Databricks and Delta Lake
- Experience with Databricks / xwzovoh modern data tooling
- Strong SQL and data modelling skills
- Experience integrating data via APIs and external systems
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills
- Background in a consulting or client-facing environment is beneficial
- Eligible for SC Security Check clearance
