I am currently recruiting for an experienced Transport Planner on behalf of a well-established logistics organisation. This is a key position within a fast-paced, high-volume operation, focused on delivering efficient, cost-effective, and reliable transport solutions.
This role will particularly suit someone with strong experience in full loads planning, who thrives in a dynamic environment and can confidently manage real-time challenges.
About the Role
You will play a central role in coordinating transport activities across a busy network, ensuring optimal utilisation of fleet and resources while maintaining high service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and optimise daily and weekly transport schedules, with a strong focus on full loads efficiency
- Build and manage effective delivery routes, balancing service levels with cost control
- Monitor live operations and respond quickly to delays, breakdowns, and last-minute changes
- Ensure all deliveries are completed on time and in line with customer expectations
- Communicate clearly with drivers, providing accurate instructions and ongoing support
- Work closely with warehouse, operations, and customer service teams to ensure seamless coordination
- Manage relationships with subcontractors and third-party transport providers
- Ensure full compliance with drivers’ hours, health & safety, and transport regulations
- Maintain accurate records and update transport systems in real time
- Review performance and continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs
Experience & Qualifications
- Previous experience in a transport planning, logistics, or supply chain role
- Proven experience xwzovoh managing full loads (FTL) transport operations is highly desirable
Key Skills
- Strong understanding of route planning, scheduling, and transport operations
- Solid knowledge of drivers’ hours and transport compliance requirements
- Ability to work under pressure and make effective decisions in a fast-moving environment
- Confident communicator with experience liaising with drivers, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset
- Experience using transport planning or logistics systems
