Job Title: Aftercare Manager
Location: Nationwide (UK-wide travel required)
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Aftercare Manager to join a leading Tier 1 contractor, supporting projects across the UK. This is a critical role focused on ensuring a smooth transition from construction completion to full client handover, maintaining high standards of quality, and protecting client relationships post-completion.
Due to the national scope of the role, candidates must be comfortable with frequent travel and occasional overnight stays.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and deliver the Soft Landings process on all completed projects, ensuring a seamless transition from construction to occupancy and operation.
* Manage the defects liability period from the date of Practical Completion through to securing the Certificate of Making Good from the client’s representative.
* Oversee the identification, investigation, and resolution of defects, ensuring timely and efficient close-out in line with contractual obligations.
* Take ownership of latent defects, coordinating investigations, appointing specialists where required, and managing remediation through to completion.
* Act as the primary point of contact for clients during the aftercare period, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
* Liaise with project teams, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure effective communication and prompt resolution of issues.
* Monitor and report on defect status, risks, and performance metrics across multiple projects.
* Ensure all aftercare activities are delivered in accordance with company procedures and quality standards.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in a similar Aftercare, Defects, or Post-Completion role within a main contracting environment.
* Previous Site Manager (or similar site-based) experience is highly desirable, with a solid understanding of construction processes and project delivery.
* Strong knowledge of defect management and contractual obligations during the defects liability period.
* Experience delivering or supporting Soft Landings processes is advantageous.
* Excellent problem-solving and investigative skills, particularly in relation to building defects and performance issues.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust with clients and internal teams.
* Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across different locations.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays where required.
