About the role

PRINCIPAL TRANSPORT PLANNER 1 year contract Hybrid working Qualifications, Skills & Experience Degree level qualification or equivalent experience Membership of professional organisation At least 7 years transport planning experience Extensive Transport Planning experience, demonstrating practical and theoretical specialist knowledge Experience in managing/training members of staff Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to prioritise workload and delegate tasks Experience of working with computer-based systems including Microsoft programmes Ability to work on own initiativeRole Specific Requirements Write, check and approve technical reports such as Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans and Technical Notes. Good understanding or modelling packages and methodologies to calculate trip generation and distributions Support preparation of and approve technical drawings where appropriate Experience in preparing appeal documentation including Statement of Case, Statement of Common Ground and Proof of Evidence Attendance as expert witness at appeal hearings and/or public inquiries Project manage schemes, including budget and time management Client liaison and management Assist with training and mentoring members of staff to support their career development Attend, contribute and lead towards meetings as appropriate Prepare, check and issue fee proposals and tenders Engage in, and identify, Business Development opportunities including networking events Develop and inform Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and team strategies Line management responsibility including holding appraisals Winning work for the team Be adaptable to assist team members and cover project responsibilities while other colleagues are away Behavioural Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure Disciplined, well organised and conscientious Promote and respect the principles of confidentiality Set an example to all staff by demonstrating compliance with the company's policies and procedures and operate within the company values and QMS Act with honesty and integrity Be adaptable and look to solve problems Be willing to go the extra mile to ensure task completion Have good communication skills and commitment to developing good communication and positive working relationships with colleagues and clients alike Work well as part of a teamersg are an equal opportunities employer; we are committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all job applicants.
