As a Design Engineer within Kier Design, you'll deliver civil and structural engineering services across a range of infrastructure projects. Working within the Structures & Geotechnical team, you'll help develop safe, buildable Permanent Works solutions, support tenders and live projects, and collaborate closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams. Comfortable supporting tenders and bids through outline design, feasibility and providing technical input?

Contribute to design delivery, including calculations, drawings, reports and risk assessments?
Identify and manage technical risks across the design and construction stages?
Have experience in undertaking site visits, inspections, surveys and providing advice on SHE matters?
Have knowledge of rail or water sector standards, or transferable infrastructure experience?

What will you be responsible for?
As a Design Engineer, you'll be working within the Structures & Geotechnical team, supporting them in delivering innovative and sustainable engineering solutions. Your day to day will include:
Deliver Permanent Works design across Kier Design's infrastructure portfolio
Design safe, buildable, cost-effective solutions from concept to delivery
Provide technical input to bids, providing buildable, innovative concepts
Develop alternative designs and value engineering solutions to strengthen competitiveness
Review and provide technical assurance of third-party designs, ensuring compliance with client and Kier requirements
Identify and manage technical risks across design and construction stages
Undertake site visits, inspections and surveys and provide advice on SHE matters
Fulfil Job Leader responsibilities, including client liaison, fee/programme input, design delivery, workload planning and compliance with Kier Quality Management Systems
What are we looking for?
This role of Design Engineer is great for you if:
You hold a Level 6/7 qualification and are working towards professional qualification with a relevant industry body (e.g. ICE, IStructE)
Proven experience delivering civil and structural infrastructure design
Full UK driving licence
Desirable
Experience with rail or water sector standards
Knowledge of WIMES or Minimum Asset Standards
Exposure to water or wastewater treatment environments
Previous M&E design experience (e.g. simple hydraulics, pump selection etc)
