Engagement Officer (Children’s Services)
Location: Nottingham
Hours: 09:00 – 17:00
Pay Rate: £19.20 per hour

We are recruiting on behalf of Local Authority in Nottingham for a Participation and Engagement Officer on a temporary basis through JT Recruit. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to impactful work within Children’s Services.
About the role
In this role, you will lead on developing and delivering engagement activities that empower children, young people, and families to influence how services are designed and delivered.
Working closely with internal teams and external partners—including schools, community organisations, and voluntary agencies—you will help ensure participation is inclusive, meaningful, and embedded across services.
Key responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging workshops, consultations, and focus groups
* Support children and young people to take part in decision-making processes
* Build positive relationships with families, partners, and stakeholders
* Gather feedback to inform service improvements and outcomes
* Promote best practice in participation and engagement across teams
* Contribute to audits, reporting, and continuous service development
* Champion equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of work
About you
You will bring:
* Experience working with children, young people, and families
* A strong understanding of participation and engagement practices
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Creativity and confidence in engaging diverse groups
* Knowledge of safeguarding and children’s services
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Essential:
* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)
* Experience delivering engagement activities such as workshops or consultations
* DBS check required
