Location: Greater Manchester (home based with regional travel) Salary: £54,000 per annum Job Type: Permanent, Full Time Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (Some flexibility required)Your new companyA well established organisation with a rapidly expanding estate across the UK and Ireland is continuing to invest in the growth of its Facilities team. Due to ongoing site openings and refurbishment projects, they are now seeking experienced Carpenter & Joiners to support works across the North of England and Scotland.Your new roleAs a Joiner, you will be responsible for the maintenance of existing sites and the fit out of new locations. This is a mobile, home based role covering Greater Manchester, with frequent travel across North England and Scotland, and occasional travel elsewhere in the UK and Ireland.Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out first and second fix joinery works across commercial environments
- Dry lining, ceiling installation, and general building works
- Supporting shop fit outs and refurbishment projects
- Assisting with strip out and re fit works where required
- Completing planned and reactive maintenance tasks
- Working alongside subcontractors and other trades on site
- Ensuring that all work complies with current building regulations and standards
- Raising material requests and maintaining accurate stock records
- Executing work schedules in line with agreed programmes
- Completing job sheets and maintenance documentation accurately and on time
- Carrying out site walk rounds and logging required remedial works
- Maintaining high standards of health & safety and PPE compliance
- Ensuring tools and equipment are used safely and correctly at all times
What you'll need to succeedTo be considered for this role, you will have:
- A recognised qualification as a Carpenter & Joiner
- Proven experience in commercial building or fit out environments
- Experience in dry lining, ceilings, and 1st & 2nd fix joinery
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow drawings and instructions
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Ability to complete basic paperwork and job documentation
- CSCS card
- Full UK driving licence
- Flexibility to travel regularly across the UK and Ireland
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience in shop fit outs or shopping centre environments
- Previous strip out and refurbishment experience
- Asbestos awareness certification
- First Aid training
- Supervisory or team lead experience
