I hope you are well.

We are currently seeking a qualified, experienced tutor to support a Year 5 young person based in BH21, who requires 1:1 alternative provision to help re-engage with learning and gradually reintegrate into school, without pressure.

This is a mentoring-led role, where emotional regulation, trust, and confidence come before academic expectations.

About the Young Person

The young person is cognitively able and has a diagnosis of ADHD, with emerging ASD needs. Their social, emotional and mental health needs are currently preventing access to mainstream education.

They now require structured, flexible, low-arousal support to re-engage with education in a way that feels safe and manageable.

Provision Overview

  • 1:1 Alternative Provision ( KS2 Maths and English)
  • Hours: Up to 15 hours per week
    • Hours will initially be reduced while the relationship is established to prevent overwhelm
  • Rate: £25-£30 per hour
  • Setting: Initially home-based, with gradual progression to community or school settings only if and when appropriate

Support Required

The tutor will:

  • Deliver 1:1 tuition in a calm, predictable, low-arousal environment
  • Use a flexible, staged approach to learning
  • Prioritise relationship-building and emotional safety before academic demands
  • Support re-engagement with learning through demand-reduced, child-led sessions
  • Introduce academic learning gradually, aligned to the young person's pace and readiness

Tutor Requirements

  • Experience working with EBSA, ADHD, ASD and SEMH needs
  • At least 6 months experience within UK based education setting
  • Calm, patient, and emotionally attuned approach
  • Confident delivering 1:1 support to KS2
  • Able to adapt sessions dynamically to reduce anxiety and prevent escalation

This is a highly rewarding role for a tutor who understands that progress starts with trust, and that re-engagement must be gentle, flexible, and child-led. xwzovoh
