About the role

We are seeking a Trainee Counsellor for a flexible, unpaid placement at the EFI Group. This opportunity is ideal for students currently undertaking a Degree, Master’s, or equivalent counselling qualification who have received ethical approval and require placement hours to complete their course. Working hours will be agreed in line with your availability and course requirements.

We are looking for a personable and empathetic trainee with a genuine interest in supporting young people in further and higher education. You will work collaboratively with our Wellbeing, Safeguarding, and Learning Support teams to ensure all students, including the most vulnerable, can thrive both academically and personally.

About you

  • Qualifications: Currently studying towards a recognised counselling qualification (Degree, Master’s, or equivalent).
  • Experience: Requirement to complete placement hours as part of your course and be working towards (or student membership of) a relevant professional body (e.g. BACP or equivalent).
  • Expertise: Knowledge of counselling theory and practice, with an understanding of ethical frameworks.
  • Values: You will be personable, highly compassionate, and genuinely interested in education, and most importantly will have the students' aspirations and mental health at the heart of your vision.
