We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Barge Master to operate and oversee the safe navigation of an inland waterway barge. This role involves managing the day-to-day running of the vessel, ensuring compliance with relevant maritime regulations, and leading the crew to deliver bunkers efficiently and professionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take command of the barge, ensuring safe navigation on inland waterways.
  • Plan and execute voyages in compliance with statutory and company requirements.
  • Manage vessel operations including loading, unloading, and securing of cargo.
  • Lead, supervise, and train crew members.
  • Maintain the vessel to a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and operational readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Essential Requirements

  • Valid Boatmaster’s Licence (or equivalent certification).
  • Demonstrable experience operating barges or similar vessels on inland waterways.
  • Strong knowledge of navigation, seamanship, and maritime safety regulations.
  • Leadership and crew management skills.
  • Good communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours depending on schedules and operations.
