Location: Cumbria (Lake District)
Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (40 hours per week)
This is a BRAND-NEW opening, part of a small chain in May 2026. A unique opportunity has arisen for a hands-on Catering Manager to join this new venture, within a destination in the Lake District. This is a permanent position offering the chance to lead and grow a dynamic team within a fast-paced, outdoor environment.
This role would suit someone who thrives in a less corporate, more independent setting and enjoys leading from the front while playing a key part in shaping the future of the catering operation.
The Role
You will be responsible for overseeing three catering outlets, including a main hub and a grab-and-go kiosk. The operation is seasonal; however, this location has a more 365 day a year offering! However, there is a peak demand during school holidays and bank holidays.
You will initially manage a team of approximately 20 staff, with responsibility for 30+ team members as the operation grows.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing, leading, and developing a team of 20+ staff
You will ideally have kitchen experience, experience in costings and menu planning is desirable
Creating rotas to ensure full coverage during peak periods
Supporting hands-on with food preparation, including sandwiches and light offerings
Menu creation and basic costing to support profitability and quality
Ordering, stock control, and cost management
Training, mentoring, and developing young or inexperienced team members
Maintaining high operational standards and completing required documentation
Driving performance across both units while remaining visible and hands-on
What Were Looking For
A strong, hands-on manager who leads by example
Experience in catering operations, including food preparation, stock control, and rota management
Confidence in training and developing junior or seasonal team members
Experience with menu planning and basic costing (desirable but highly beneficial)
A patient, empathetic but firm leadership style
Flexible and adaptable, particularly in a seasonal environment
Ability to work weekends and peak holiday periods
Own transport is essential due to location
Desirable
Multi-site experience
Level 3 Food Hygiene (Level 2 minimum required training can be provided)
Ambition to progress within a growing business
Whats on Offer
33 days annual leave
Time off in lieu for overtime
Predominantly daytime hours (8am 5/6pm)
Very limited evening work (events only)
Free entry to the park for family and friends
Free hot drinks on shift
50% discount on food (on and off shift)
Staff discounts in retail outlets
Autonomy over rotas, menus, and operations
The Environment
This is not a typical catering role. Youll be working in a unique, outdoor/indoor setting with a strong family-focused culture. The business values personality and team fit just as much as experience, offering a supportive environment where you can make a real impact. xwzovoh
