SEND Higher Level Teaching Assistants(HLTA) Greenwich May 2026 Competitive Rates of Pay Full-Time Role We are seeking a committed and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join an inclusive school in Greenwich. Role Overview Deliver high-quality classroom support in collaboration with teachers to ensure engaging and inclusive learning experiences. Contribute to lesson planning and preparation, ensuring that teaching resources are well-managed and lessons run efficiently. Provide cover supervision for whole classes during short-term teacher absences (maximum of eight pupils per class). Partner with school leadership and other staff members to support pupil progress and uphold high educational standards. Support the implementation of policies and procedures to maintain a safe, positive, and effective learning environment. Requirements Demonstrated experience working with children and young people with a wide range of special educational needs, including complex learning difficulties. Ability to manage and support pupils exhibiting challenging behaviours with professionalism and empathy. HLTA status or equivalent teaching qualification is highly desirable. Candidates with a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification and substantial relevant experience will also be considered. Strong interpersonal and communication skills-both written and verbal-with the ability to engage confidently with parents, carers, and multi-agency professionals. A collaborative approach and experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Proven ability to lead group or individual learning activities tailored to students' individual needs. Familiarity with alternative communication methods for non-verbal or minimally verbal learners is advantageous.
