Assistant Accountant

We are looking for a proactive Assistant Accountant to join a busy finance team in a hands‑on role supporting transactional finance activities (Purchase to Pay and Order to Cash). This is an excellent opportunity for someone who can confidently multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment and is keen to gain exposure to management accounts and broader finance responsibilities. This role is based in East London offering hybrid working. Key Responsibilities Accurately process and code invoices and credit notes Allocate customer receipts and supplier payments Maintain vendor master data Perform supplier and customer account reconciliations Review and resolve aged balances Complete bank reconciliations Assist with VAT preparation Support external audit requirements Maintain shared finance inboxes, ensuring queries are acknowledged and responded to within 24 hours Support the finance team with management accounts preparation and reporting as requiredAbout You Strong ability to multi‑task and manage competing deadlines Positive, proactive “can‑do” attitude Part‑qualified accountant (preferably ACCA) or AAT Level 4 2–3 years’ experience in a transactional finance role (P2P or OTC) Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills Strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, lookups, SUMIFS, formulas) FMCG experience desirable but not essential Experience with Oracle JD Edwards beneficial but not requiredThis role offers a great development opportunity for an Assistant Accountant looking to expand beyond transactional finance into management accounting within a supportive finance function
