About the role

Sayjo Recruitment Ltd are acting on behalf of a client to source a permanent member of staff to join their team. This is a full-time vacancy for a Mechanical Product Development & Design Engineer Our client is a well-established engineering company; they manufacture a quality metal product which they supply to customers around the world. This is a key role within the business, you will be responsible for developing existing products, resolving non-conformance issues and continuous improvement. Additionally, you will be innovative, having the ability to research and develop new products to take to market. Key Responsibilities: * Product development / innovation, R&D * Engineering / production process improvements. * Design Engineering, using AutoCAD, Solidworks & Keyshot * Taking concepts from idea to saleable product * Patenting new products * Developing existing product lines * Liaising with customers to research and develop products for their specific requirements * Reviewing metal material choices, metal treatment options, metal coatings etc…. Our client offers a lovely work environment, with a friendly team. This role has no direct reports, but will require the successful candidate to liaise regularly with customers, suppliers and other team members Requirements: Mechanical Engineering Degree. Experience of working with metal-based products. Experience in using AutoCAD, Solidworks and Keyshot. Ability to work autonomously on projects, confident and capable. Innovative, able to find solutions, bring ideas for new products, through R&D and design Friendly, professional and committed. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Nice to haves, but not essential: PLC programming skills Proven record of taking a product from concept to a saleable product. Experience of getting a product through the patent process with legal support would also be an advantage. Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 8.30am – 5pm / Friday 8.30am – 4pm Remuneration: Negotiable depending on experience.
