Are you passionate about animal welfare, farm performance, and building strong relationships with farmers? We have an exciting opportunity for a Breeding Fields Person to join our Breeding team, supporting outdoor breeding farms to achieve excellent production, welfare, and commercial results.

About the Role

Reporting to the Breeding Farms Manager, you will be the primary contact for our breeding farmers, providing technical and management support to help maximise herd performance while ensuring the highest standards of welfare, biosecurity, and farm assurance.

This is a varied and rewarding field-based role where you'll work closely with farmers, vets, and internal stakeholders to drive continuous improvement across our breeding operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical and management support to outdoor breeding farms to improve productivity and performance.
• Conduct regular farm visits focusing on:
  • Gilt management
  • Service and dry sow management
  • Farrowing performance
• Monitor and improve key performance indicators including:
  • Pigs per sow per year
  • Tonnes per sow per year
  • Weaning weights
• Work alongside the veterinary team to monitor herd health, welfare, and biosecurity standards.
• Analyse herd recording data to identify priorities and develop farm improvement plans.
• Support farmers in achieving agreed production targets through practical action plans.
• Liaise between farmers and veterinary teams, supporting vaccination programmes and herd health initiatives.
• Ensure all farms meet required assurance and audit standards, including:
  • Red Tractor
  • RSPCA Assured
  • Outdoor Bred Standards
  • Customer and retailer requirements
• Assist in identifying and developing opportunities for new breeding units and supporting existing farmer relationships.
• Attend team meetings, operational excellence (Opex) meetings, farmer events, and industry shows.
• Champion company values and support a culture of continuous improvement and recognition.

What We're Looking For

We'd love to hear from candidates who have:

• Practical experience or knowledge of pig production and animal welfare standards.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• The confidence to influence, advise, and challenge constructively where appropriate.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• The ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively within a team.
• Good commercial awareness and a results-focused mindset.
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• An understanding of Health & Safety requirements within an agricultural environment.
