Job Title: Cover Supervisor Location: Sheffield Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience) Start Date: Immediate Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time Do you have the confidence to lead a classroom and keep students focused on learning? GSL Education are seeking enthusiastic and dependable Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools across Sheffield. As a Cover Supervisor, you will oversee lessons during teacher absences, ensuring students remain engaged with the work provided and maintain high standards of behaviour. This role is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, or experienced education professionals looking to develop their classroom experience. Main Responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor: Supervise classes during teacher absences across a variety of subjects Deliver pre-planned lesson materials and ensure learning objectives are met Maintain a positive, structured and productive learning environment Manage classroom behaviour in accordance with school policies Encourage student participation and engagement throughout lessons Support students with tasks and provide clarification where appropriate Communicate any concerns or incidents to relevant staff members Promote a safe, inclusive and respectful classroom atmosphere Requirements of a Cover Supervisor: Experience working with children or young people is desirable Ability to manage a classroom independently and confidently Strong communication and interpersonal skills Good organisational skills and attention to detail Flexible, professional and proactive approach to work Passion for supporting students and their educational development An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or completing a new application.
