About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Installation Engineer to join our fire suppression delivery team, working on complex and safety-critical projects across the UK and internationally. This role focuses on the installation and commissioning of mechanical fire protection systems, including water-based, gas, foam, and hydrant systems, often within live or high-risk environments.

Due to the nature of this position, we are only able to consider applicants who currently have the unrestricted legal right to live and work in the UK. We are unable to provide sponsorship or assist with visa applications for this role.Key ResponsibilitiesInstallation & Commissioning
  • Install, test, commission, and hand over mechanical fire suppression systems, including: Deluge systems, Hydrant systems, Gas suppression systems, Foam suppression systems

  • Carry out system flushing, pressure testing, flow testing, and functional testing in line with approved procedures.

  • Diagnose and resolve installation, performance, or commissioning issues on-site.

  • Support pre-commissioning inspections, system demonstrations, and final client acceptance testing.

  • Ensure installations align with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.

Critical & High-Risk Environments
  • Work within live and mission-critical sites, such as: Data centres, Power generation facilities, Industrial plants, Energy and high-hazard environments

  • Adhere to strict permit-to-work, lockout/tagout, and site-specific safety controls.

  • Plan and execute works to minimize risk and disruption to live systems and operations.

Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Maintain full compliance with company and site Health & Safety policies.

  • Review and contribute to RAMS, commissioning plans, test records, and completion documentation.

  • Ensure all works meet relevant legislation, standards, and client-specific requirements.

  • Promote a strong safety-first culture on-site.

Collaboration & Reporting
  • Liaise effectively with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, Clients, and Subcontractors.

  • Provide accurate progress updates, technical feedback, and commissioning support.

  • Assist with snagging, system optimisation, and post-handover technical support when required.

Travel & Working Away
  • Travel extensively across the UK using a company service van.

  • Willingness to work away from home, including overnight stays.

  • Flexibility to work out-of-hours, weekends, or during planned shutdowns and commissioning windows.

  • Potential for international travel depending on project requirements.

Skills & ExperienceEssential
  • Proven experience installing and commissioning mechanical fire suppression systems, particularly deluge systems.

  • Strong mechanical background, including: Pipework, Valves, Pumps, Actuated/mechanical control systems

  • Experience working in critical or high-risk environments.

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.

  • Full UK driving license.

  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and quality workmanship

Desirable

  • Knowledge of fire protection standards and approvals, such as: LPC, NFPA, FM, BS and EN standards

  • Experience with fire pumps, control valves, and system interfaces.

  • CSCS card or equivalent.

  • Additional safety certifications such as: Confined Space, IPAF, PASMA

  • Other relevant construction or site-based qualifications.
