Contract - £400- £500 / Day Rate
Clearance: Must hold or be eligible to obtain SC security clearance.
My Client is looking for an experienced and driven Unmanned Systems Modelling and Control Engineer to lead innovation across air, land, and maritime domains. You will join our growing Autonomous Systems team, turning advanced concepts into products that make a real difference in global security.
You will serve as a technical leader and mentor for a diverse team of experts while collaborating with international partners.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- Digital Modelling: Design high-fidelity 6-DOF models to accurately simulate complex vehicle dynamics and behaviors.
- Control Systems: Create, tune, and deploy flight-critical control laws and resilient trajectory algorithms.
- Testing & Validation: Lead Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing and "Iron Bird" development to verify systems against rigorous requirements.
- Field Operations: Support live flight testing, perform real-time data analysis, and handle on-site repairs or diagnostics.
- Leadership: Act as a technical mentor to guide junior engineers through the full design and testing lifecycle.
- Advanced Navigation: Develop GNSS-denied resilient guidance using A-PNT sensor sources.
Skills & Experience
Indispensable
- Software Tools: Expert proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow.
- UAS Expertise: Hands-on experience with Autopilot/Flight Management System integration and vehicle data interfaces like CAN bus or Ethernet.
- Safety & Analysis: Significant experience in Failure Modes Effect Analysis (FMEA) and redundancy implementation.
- System Design: Ability to define complex unmanned architectures from first principles.
Required
- Security Clearance: Must hold (or be able to obtain) UK SC security clearance.
- Travel: A valid passport and the ability to travel internationally for systems testing.
- Embedded Coding: Proficient in C/C++ for APIs and embedded applications.
- Flight Tuning: Experience with experimental flight testing and system identification methodologies.
Desirable
- Familiarity with aerospace standards like DO-178 B/C.
- Knowledge of UK MOD procurement processes and customer requirements.
- Experience with Operational Safety Case (OSC) documentation. xwzovoh
