Quality Manager

Job Title: Quality Manager Location: Stourbridge Salary: £50k + Permanent role Join a well-established steel foundry in the Black Country, recognised for delivering high-quality castings into demanding industries. With a strong reputation for technical capability and reliability, this business operates in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment where quality and process control are critical. We're looking for a hands-on, experienced Quality Manager with a strong foundry background to take ownership of the Quality function. This is a key role for someone who understands steel casting inside out from melting to final inspection and can lead from the shop floor while driving standards across the business. What you'll be doing: Leading and developing the Quality team across the foundry Owning and improving the QMS (ISO 9001 and customer-specific requirements) Managing internal, customer, and supplier audits Acting as the main contact for all customer quality and technical matters Providing metallurgical and technical support across melting, moulding, pouring, fettling, and inspection Investigating casting defects, scrap, and variation - driving root cause and corrective actions Supporting and improving methoding (feeding, gating, yield optimisation) Leading new product introduction from enquiry through to production Monitoring KPIs (scrap, rework, yield, RFT) and driving continuous improvement Ensuring full traceability, compliance, and robust technical documentation What we're looking for: Proven experience as a Quality Manager or senior Quality professional within a steel foundry Strong understanding of steel metallurgy, casting processes, and defect analysis Experience managing QMS and auditing to ISO 9001 standards Ability to interpret engineering drawings and customer specifications Confident communicator, able to engage with customers, suppliers, and shop floor teams Hands-on, practical approach with a strong problem-solving mindset Nice to have: Degree/HNC/HND in Metallurgy, Materials, or Mechanical Engineering Experience supporting customer audits and technical reviews This is a fantastic opportunity for a foundry-focused Quality professional to step into a pivotal role where you can make a real impact on processes, performance, and product quality.
