How you'll make a differenceAs part of a vital frontline service, you will play an important role in helping to keep South Gloucestershire a clean, safe and attractive for residents, businesses and visitors.

Working as part of a dedicated team, you will carry out a range of street cleansing duties, including litter collection cleansing of public spaces and the removal of bulky waste.Working outdoors in all weather conditions, you will maintain public areas to help improve the local environment and community wellbeing.What you will be doingCarrying out street cleansing duties, you will be responsible for collecting litter, clearing spaces of land and removing bulky waste.Working outside in all weathers on verges, footpaths, roadways and other outdoor environments, you will assist in the removal of waste, control weed growth and remove graffiti.You may be working on high-speed roads and occasionally working in unpleasant and hazardous environments.To ensure your health and safety, you will adhere to strict guidelines complying with all appropriate legislation, including instructions relating to waste disposal in force at that time.Depending on duties, weekend and night-time work may be involved, for which the appropriate enhancement will be paid.What we need from youYou must have a full driving licence to at least category B for manual transmission vehicles and you will need to be competent to drive vehicles up to maximum 3500kg MAM.Given the elements of the role, you need to be physically fit and able to work outdoors in weather through the year – this job involves extensive walking and frequent manual handling tasks.You will have the ability to read and follow written works instructions, read maps and complete paper records. How a career at South Gloucestershire Council is differentWhat’s special here is the strength of the team ethos, the support and the training.As part of our benefits package you will receive generous annual leave, employee wellbeing support and you will have access to a range of staff discounts, including eye tests, travel, shopping and leisure activities.We recognise that our diverse team of skilled and dedicated people make us a great place to work. Our teams at South Gloucestershire Council are making a real difference to the lives of people who live, work and learn here.We’re providing essential services across our internal network to ensure we can fully support our community.We’re positive and forward thinking, always looking for new and innovative ways of working work and we’re ambitious about the future. xwzovoh
