Role: Senior Backend Engineer (Product)

Location: Hybrid - London

Compensation: Up to £130,000 + equity

We’re supporting a next-generation AI company developing a groundbreaking platform that automatically creates and scales immersive 3D environments. The team is bringing world-class technology from research to reality — turning complex creative workflows into seamless, intelligent systems.

As a Senior Backend Engineer , you’ll own the architecture behind this core product. You’ll design APIs that power creative tooling, orchestrate large-scale compute workloads, and shape the technical foundations of a platform redefining what’s possible in 3D content creation.

What you’ll do

• Build and scale backend services and APIs for web and desktop applications.
• Design and implement distributed systems for async processing, ML workflows, and asset pipelines.
• Own authentication, billing, and subscription systems — ensuring reliability and seamless user experience.
• Drive observability, performance tuning, and deployment automation across the stack.
• Collaborate closely with product, frontend, and ML teams to deliver features that delight and scale.

You should have

• 5+ years of experience developing production-grade backend systems and APIs.
• Strong skills in Python (FastAPI or similar) and modern cloud infrastructure.
• Deep understanding of system design, scalability, and reliability .
• A product-oriented mindset — you design with end users and UX impact in mind.
• Passion for clean abstractions, maintainable code, and well-defined interfaces.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with cloud-native infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Familiarity with auth, billing, or subscription systems .
• Background in 3D graphics, creative tooling, or ML pipelines .
• Knowledge of observability tools like Grafana, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetry.
