About the role
Absolute Law Recruitment are seeking a Tax Assistant Manager to work for a prestigious Legal 500 Law Firm in Central London.
Role Purpose
To provide comprehensive support to the Tax team across advisory and compliance workstreams, assisting with technical research, client work, data analysis, and tax reporting while delivering a high standard of client service.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake research into UK tax legislation, HMRC guidance, and relevant case law to support tax advisory work.
* Analyse financial and tax data using Excel and other relevant software to produce accurate calculations and tax computations.
* Review client documentation in detail, identifying potential issues, highlighting areas requiring clarification, and preparing concise summaries with recommended actions.
* Assist in drafting tax advisory reports, letters, memoranda, and client correspondence for review by senior team members.
* Support the management of client and third-party service provider relationships by attending meetings, taking instructions, responding to queries, and ensuring timely follow-up.
* Assist in the preparation of marketing materials and work collaboratively with the Marketing team to produce technical content for external publication.
* Provide general support across both tax advisory and tax compliance engagements.
* Deliver exceptional client service, maintaining professionalism, responsiveness, and attention to detail at all times.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Qualifications
* Degree educated with a minimum 2:1 classification (preferably a BSc or BA).
* CTA qualified or ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
Experience
* Experience of UK tax compliance, including responsibility for a small portfolio of clients.
* Experience preparing UK tax returns and, ideally, undertaking first-level reviews of tax returns.
* Experience assisting with or preparing tax advisory reports, preferably for Owner Managed Businesses (OMBs).
* Exposure to international private client tax matters is desirable, including experience with non-UK structures for both UK resident and non-resident clients.
