Role: Head of Science / Curriculum Leader Key Stages: KS3 and KS4 Subjects: Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) Salary: Up to UPS3, with potential TLR Additional Allowance: SEN Allowance of £2,787 Visa Sponsorship: Not available About the Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and committed professional to lead the Science department. The successful candidate will drive high-quality teaching and learning, ensuring all students are supported to achieve their full potential while maintaining high standards of behaviour and engagement. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the needs, abilities, and interests of students across KS3 and KS4 Develop and adapt teaching resources, schemes of work, and pastoral strategies to support effective learning Take responsibility for student progress, attainment, and outcomes, using effective planning to maximise achievement Use a range of assessment and monitoring strategies to inform teaching, track progress, and set challenging targets Provide clear and constructive feedback to students and communicate progress effectively with parents Support students with Special Educational Needs by working closely with the SENCo to plan, implement, and review appropriate provision Foster positive relationships with parents, governors, and the wider community Contribute actively to meetings, training, and ongoing professional development Collaborate with colleagues to share best practice, develop curriculum approaches, and raise standards across the department Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment with high expectations for behaviour and learning Manage classes effectively, using strategies that motivate, challenge, and inspire students Act as a positive role model, demonstrating professionalism and the values expected within the school community Promote and safeguard the wellbeing of all students by adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures What We Offer Competitive pension scheme Access to continuous professional development and recognition programmes Strong focus on work-life balance Health and wellbeing support services Staff benefits platform Extended October half-term break (two weeks) Additional Information The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check and must have the right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
