Location- Surrey



My client is a specialist manufacturer. They are looking for a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Surrey on a permanent basis.



The Principal Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • BSc / BEng in Mechanical / Automotive / Aerospace Engineering or similar
  • 5 or more years’ of industry experience working in similar Senior Mechanical or Design role
  • Good understanding of FEA, ANSYS, stress analysis, particle fluid simulation etc.
  • Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor etc.
  • Siemens NX experience would be ideal
  • Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Proficient using MS Office
  • Excellent organisational skills and time management skills
  • Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team



The Principal Mechanical Engineer role will involve:

  • Overseeing and executing NPI and NPD technical activities
  • Working within the R&D multi-disciplinary team
  • Planning and overseeing the first build of new products and being involved in validation tests
  • Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
  • Leading client projects to convert ideas into designs
  • Working on new product concepts
  • Perform development activities and find new mechanical solutions
  • Being involved in the product design and development process using CAD
  • Working with xwzovoh high precision instrumentation products
  • Modelling, analysis and the development of mechanisms
  • Involved in building and developing prototypes
  • Conducting design reviews
  • Producing the relevant documentation that is required
  • Driving continuous improvement
