The Client:
Our client is a family-owned business specialising in the manufacture of high-performance elastomer components for safety-critical industries, including chemical processing, aerospace, nuclear sectors and high-performance motor sport (Formula 1). They are looking to strengthen the R&D team by employing a motivated Rubber Technologist to join them. You will work closely with the Technical Manager on materials development, product developments and regulations and compliance support.
The Role:
You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the company’s products remain at the cutting edge of materials technology. As a Senior Rubber Technologist, you will bring proven formulation experience, supporting the company in achieving its development goals while maintaining global compliance standards. This role offers the opportunity to broaden your experience across engineering and manufacturing processes, giving valuable exposure beyond formulation.
Responsibilities:
· Development of new and existing material formulations
· In the absence of the Technical Manager, supervising laboratory staff
· Work together with the development team for new products
· Maintain and produce certificates of conformance relating to:
o SVHC (REACH)
o RoHS
o POPs
o California Proposition 65
· Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for raw materials and rubber compounds
· Ensure materials meet required certifications (e.g. FDA 21 CFR 177.2600)
· Monitor and stay up to date with evolving regulations (e.g. PFAS compliance)
· Providing technical support to the commercial team throughout the sales process.
· The role will require some customer facing activities
Key Requirements:
· Proven expertise in rubber formulations
· Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Engineering, or a related field
· Strong problem solving
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Strong analytical approach, with high attention to detail
· Laboratory testing skills
