About the role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced HV Commissioning Engineer to join a major transmission infrastructure programme, initially supporting SSEN projects before moving onto SPEN frameworks.

The Opportunity
Peterhead
12-Month Contract + Extensions
£700–£850 per day (Outside IR35, All-In)
Immediate Start Available
Monday–Friday (10-hour days, early finish Fridays) + optional weekend work
Key Responsibilities
- Lead commissioning activities on HV/EHV substations (132kV–400kV)
- Carry out protection, control and SCADA testing
- Develop commissioning procedures and test documentation
- Support energisation, handover and project delivery
- Ensure compliance with SSEN/SPEN safety standards
Requirements
SSEN or SPEN Authorisation
SSE Cat 1 & Cat 3 Authorisation
Proven HV/EHV substation commissioning experience
Strong knowledge of protection relays, control systems and SCADA
Experience working under UK DNO/TSO safety rules
This is an excellent opportunity to secure a long-term contract on critical UK transmission projects with a strong pipeline of future work.
