Bedford | Contract Role | Shift-Based (Days & Nights)
PAYE Pay Rate: £21.32 per hour + accrued leave | Overtime x1.5
Rullion are working with a leading organisation in the rail sector to recruit Skilled Maintenance Technicians for a key maintenance depot in Bedford. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing team supporting critical fleet operations and passenger services.
Whether you already have rail experience or are looking to transition into the rolling stock maintenance industry, this role offers hands-on technical work, training, and the chance to develop your skills in a new and growing sector.
The Opportunity
You'll be part of a dedicated maintenance team responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of passenger trains through planned maintenance and reactive fault finding.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out maintenance and repair activities in line with production requirements
Perform advanced fault diagnosis and troubleshooting
Produce detailed technical reports on fault investigations
Support and mentor team members in technical skill development
Develop specialist technical knowledge across key systems
What We're Looking For
Experience within a mechanical or electrical engineering environment
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (essential)
Strong fault finding and diagnostic capability
Ability to complete maintenance records accurately and in line with procedures
Solid understanding of health & safety regulations (COSHH, PPE, manual handling, etc.)
Comfortable using laptops and diagnostic systems
Ability to interpret technical manuals and documentation

Working Pattern
12-hour shifts (12 hour days (07:00-19:00) and nights (19:00-07:00) on 4,4,5,5,5,5 on/off rotation)
Candidates must live within a 1-hour commute of Bedford
