Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Health and Safety Manager role based in London. The Health and Safety Manager will oversee all health, safety, and environmental practices across sewer connection and drainage projects, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and company policies. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting site inspections and risk assessments, developing and implementing safety procedures, and monitoring corrective actions. The role involves delivering safety training and toolbox talks, investigating incidents and near misses, and maintaining accurate records and reports. The Health and Safety Manager will collaborate closely with project managers, site supervisors, and operatives to promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement.


Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Health & Safety and Occupational Health knowledge, with experience applying these principles in construction or civil engineering environments.
  • Candidates should possess Environment Health and Safety (EHS) expertise, including understanding of environmental regulations and best practices for tunnelling and drainage works.
  • Candidates should possess Safety Training skills, with proven ability to design and deliver engaging training sessions and toolbox talks to diverse site teams.
  • Candidates should possess NEBOSH (or equivalent) qualifications, demonstrating formal competence in health and safety management.
  • Candidates should possess excellent communication, influencing, and report-writing skills, with the ability to challenge unsafe practices and build positive working relationships.
  • Candidates should possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including experience with risk assessments, method statements, and incident investigations.
  • Relevant experience in utilities, tunnelling, or construction site operations is highly beneficial; membership of a professional safety body (e.g., IOSH) is an advantage.
  • Candidates should possess solid organisational skills and the ability to work independently on-site, managing multiple projects and priorities safely and efficiently.
