About the role

Let’s be #BrilliantTogetherIn the Sustainability Index R&D team, you will design and develop investable index strategies focused on ESG, Climate and Sustainability.The successful candidate will be part of a global, dynamic research team responsible for developing index methodologies, conducting quantitative research, and delivering client-driven solutions. The role will also involve participation in client projects, including discussions around index design and methodology.In addition, you will work across a broad range of sustainability-driven investment solutions, including ESG and exclusion-based strategies, climate transition and Paris-aligned indices, optimization-based portfolios balancing sustainability objectives and tracking error, as well as emerging areas such as SDG, biodiversity, and regulatory-driven frameworks.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and backtest quantitative index methodologies incorporating ESG, climate, and sustainability signalsDesign rules-based index strategies and contribute to new product developmentAnalyse and manipulate large datasets using Python (and SQL where applicable) to support research and index constructionCollaborate with internal teams (data, product, sales) and contribute to cross-functional projectsParticipate in client-driven projects, including discussions to refine and implement index methodologiesContribute to research ideas across ESG, climate, and broader sustainability themesRequired QualificationsQuantitative finance background (e.g. Financial Engineering, Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics or similar)2–5 years of experience within financial markets (e.g. asset management, index providers, quant research)Strong analytical mindset with hands-on experience or interest in portfolio construction and optimization techniquesPostgraduate degree (or equivalent) in a quantitative disciplineProficiency in Python and SQL, with experience handling and analysing financial datasetsStrong communication skills with the ability to explain quantitative concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersPreferred QualificationsExperience in ESG, Climate, or SustainabilityFamiliarity with:ESG data / climate metricsBenchmarking and tracking error conceptsRules-based index construction methodologies#LI-RH1 #ASSOCIATE #Finance #STOXXWhat You Can Expect from UsAt ISS STOXX, our people are our driving force.
