Academics are currently working with fantastic SEN school in Colchester, Essex who are looking to recruit a passionate SEN Primary Teacher for a September 2026 start. These are rewarding opportunities for teachers who are committed to supporting pupils with ASD and additional complex needs, either within a specialist setting or supporting children across EYFS, KS1, or KS2 in a mainstream environment.

Location: SEN school in Colchester, Essex
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Permanent
Salary: M1 to UPS1 + SEN allowance (where applicable)
Hours: Full-time
Key Stages: EYFS, KS1, or KS2

The Role:

  • Plan and deliver personalised, engaging lessons tailored to pupils with SEN
  • Support children across EYFS, KS1 or KS2 (role flexibility available)
  • Create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
  • Promote pupils' academic, social, and emotional development
  • Work closely with SENCOs, class teachers, therapists, and support staff
  • Lead classroom routines and contribute to the wider school community
  • Ensure high standards of safeguarding and inclusive practice

Opportunities are available in both specialist SEN settings and mainstream primary schools, all offering excellent facilities and a nurturing environment. Requirements:

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
  • Experience teaching pupils with SEN, particularly ASD and complex needs
  • Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum
  • Understanding of early communication and child development
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A patient, adaptable, and positive approach
