Freelance 3D Laser Etching Designer / Programmer (RhinoCAD Specialist)

Operating a suite of seven state-of-the-art laser systems — including dual-head femtosecond and fibre 5-axis machines — Fimark’s expertise spans automotive, aerospace, medical, consumer products and mould tool manufacturing. Our team works at the intersection of design and engineering, creating surfaces that are both aesthetically distinctive and functionally engineered, from micro-patterned grip textures to decorative finishes for high-end components. We are looking for a talented 3D Designer / Programmer with strong RhinoCAD skills to help develop and prepare laser-etching data for production. The role bridges creative design and digital manufacturing — turning 3D textures, graphics and surface effects into accurate toolpaths for our precision laser platforms. This is a freelance, part-time role, ideal for a technically-minded designer comfortable working independently but collaborating with our team in Walton-on-Thames (hybrid on-site and remote). Design and adapt 3D surface patterns, textures and engraving features in Rhino 3D. • Collaborate with engineers to translate client briefs and technical requirements into manufacturable surface data. • Adjust parameters and workflows for different materials, finishes and performance outcomes. • Maintain organised project data and digital texture libraries. Advanced Rhino 3D modelling and surface design ability. • Demonstrable experience in laser etching, engraving or texturing on complex 3D geometries. • Understanding of laser programming principles and coordinate systems. • Familiarity with GF Machining Solutions laser platforms (Laser P 400U, Laser 1000 5AX) or similar 5-axis systems advantageous. • Precision mindset, strong spatial awareness, and disciplined data management. • UK-based freelancer with right to work.
