Job Title: Experienced Mental Health Support Worker (Children & Young People) Location: Yeovil, Somerset Employer: NHS / NHS-commissioned Service Contract Type: Agency Working Pattern: Long Days and Nights Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Support Worker to provide high-quality 1:1 and 2:1 care for children and young people with complex mental health needs in Yeovil. The successful candidate will support individuals in both community and residential settings, promoting emotional wellbeing, safety, and independence. Key Responsibilities * Provide 1:1 and 2:1 therapeutic support to children and young people with mental health conditions * Assist in the development and implementation of individual care and support plans * Support service users with daily living activities, routines, and engagement in education or social activities * Use trauma-informed and person-centred approaches in all interactions * Manage and respond appropriately to challenging behaviours, including de-escalation techniques * Maintain accurate and timely record-keeping and reporting in line with NHS standards * Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including nurses, psychologists, social workers, and families * Ensure safeguarding and risk management procedures are followed at all times Essential Requirements * Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in a mental health support role (preferably with children or young people) * Knowledge of conditions such as ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, and trauma-related disorders * Experience delivering 1:1 or 2:1 care support * Understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations Desirable Skills & Qualifications * NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) * Training in PMVA / CPI / de-escalation techniques * Experience working within NHS or CAMHS settings * Full UK driving licence
