Are you a confident and compassionate leader ready to step into a role where you can make an immediate impact?
We’re working with Nottingham City Council to recruit an experienced Children’s Residential Unit Manager to lead and oversee two small, nurturing children’s homes within close proximity of each other in the city.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a strong Registered Manager (or highly experienced Deputy ready to step up) who can hit the ground running and provide stability, leadership, and high-quality care for looked-after children.
? The Role You’ll be responsible for managing two 2-bed children’s homes, leading dedicated teams with the support of two Assistant Managers. This is a hands-on leadership role where your ability to balance structure with empathy will be key.
? What We’re Looking For We’re looking for someone who truly understands children’s behaviours and can lead with both confidence and care:
Experience within residential childcare / looked-after children’s services
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (essential)
Ideally Level 5 in Leadership & Management (or working towards)
A calm, resilient leader who understands that behaviour is communication
Strong knowledge of safeguarding and trauma-informed practice
Ability to lead teams effectively and create a stable, supportive environment? Key Responsibilities
Lead and motivate staff teams to deliver outstanding care and support
Ensure all homes meet safeguarding, regulatory, and Ofsted standards
Build meaningful relationships with children, supporting their development and outcomes
Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals to deliver tailored care plans
Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring a safe, structured, and nurturing environment
Manage resources effectively across both homes? Why This Role? This is more than just a management role—it’s a chance to step into a service where your leadership will directly impact young people’s lives. You’ll be supported, trusted, and given the autonomy to lead with purpose.
