Associate, Engineering Officer

Location and Coverage

The role covers the Central belt of Scotland.

Your key responsibilities

• Maintain high radio/spectrum engineering standards and resolve harmful interference issues within KPIs.
• Investigate unlicensed radio spectrum use in your geographical area within KPIs.
• Plan targeted proactive radio monitoring to mitigate harmful interference and ensure licence compliance.
• Inspect radio equipment to ensure licence compliance and adherence to technical specifications.
• Support large sporting events that rely on radio services (e.g., Open Golf Championship, Commonwealth Games).
• Collaborate with colleagues and provide assistance as required.
• Maintain own equipment plant and vehicle at professional standard, including finances and H&S (full equipment and vehicle provided).

Essential skills, knowledge, and experience

• Appreciation of and desire to promote Ofcom’s values of excellence, agility, respect, empowerment, and collaboration.
• Ownership and delivery of performance, KPIs and service levels.
• Experience of radio engineering and knowledge of radio spectrum.
• Experience working in a geographically dispersed team.
• Excellent communication skills, delivering difficult conversations and interacting with stakeholders.
• Stakeholder relationship skills and customer focus.

Qualifications

• Technical qualification – HNC/D in a technical discipline or equivalent experience and knowledge.
