About the role
Location and Coverage
The role covers the Central belt of Scotland.
Your key responsibilities
- Maintain high radio/spectrum engineering standards and resolve harmful interference issues within KPIs.
- Investigate unlicensed radio spectrum use in your geographical area within KPIs.
- Plan targeted proactive radio monitoring to mitigate harmful interference and ensure licence compliance.
- Inspect radio equipment to ensure licence compliance and adherence to technical specifications.
- Support large sporting events that rely on radio services (e.g., Open Golf Championship, Commonwealth Games).
- Collaborate with colleagues and provide assistance as required.
- Maintain own equipment plant and vehicle at professional standard, including finances and H&S (full equipment and vehicle provided).
Essential skills, knowledge, and experience
- Appreciation of and desire to promote Ofcom’s values of excellence, agility, respect, empowerment, and collaboration.
- Ownership and delivery of performance, KPIs and service levels.
- Experience of radio engineering and knowledge of radio spectrum.
- Experience working in a geographically dispersed team.
- Excellent communication skills, delivering difficult conversations and interacting with stakeholders.
- Stakeholder relationship skills and customer focus.
Qualifications
- Technical qualification – HNC/D in a technical discipline or equivalent experience and knowledge.
