About the role

We are supporting a local authority with the appointment of an Interim Director of Place and Regeneration at a pivotal point in the organisation’s journey.

The information below covers the role requirements, expected candidate experience, and accompanying qualifications.

This is a senior, high-impact interim leadership role, reporting directly to the Chief Executive and forming part of the Council’s Executive Suite. The postholder will provide corporate leadership across planning, regeneration, property and asset management, while playing a key role in preparations for Local Government Reorganisation.

Key priorities for the role include leading delivery of a new Local Plan by 2027, shaping major town centre regeneration proposals, overseeing the Council’s Asset Management Strategy and Capital Programme, and providing strategic oversight of significant redevelopment projects.

This opportunity will suit an experienced senior leader with a background in planning or property, a strong track record in regeneration, and the political awareness to operate effectively within a complex local government environment. The role requires visible leadership, sound commercial judgement, and the ability to work collaboratively with Members, partners and senior officers to deliver tangible outcomes for residents.

The role is offered on a 3 day per week basis. xwzovoh

If you are an interim director or senior place leader who can bring strategic grip, pace and credibility at a critical moment of change, I would welcome a confidential conversation.
