Visiting Music Teacher: Singing
About the role
We are seeking a skilled singer with first-rate teaching and communication skills to join our team of self-employed Visiting Music Teachers from September 2026.
Is this the next step in your career Find out if you are the right candidate by reading through the complete overview below.
In this post, you will play a crucial role in developing the talents of our young singers, working alongside the Music department, and other singing teachers. We envisage being able to offer around six and a half hours’ worth of teaching per week in the first instance, although additional opportunities to increase the teaching timetable may be available for the right candidate, and singing lessons are usually in high demand at SCHS.
We run regular sessions of ABRSM exams, and an annual round of LCM Musical Theatre exams, and we have had significant success with both in recent years.
Music is at the heart of Streatham & Clapham High School and the department is going from strength-to-strength.
Singing is particularly popular with our pupils, and we currently have a team of six singing teachers. Our auditioned Chamber Choir regularly performs evensong at Cathedrals and Oxbridge colleges, and we have recently toured to Spain and Belgium. We have three other choirs; Schola Cantorum (a small, auditioned group), Madeleine Dring Consort (an auditioned group of KS3 pupils), and Metrophonics (a non-auditioned group which tackle lighter repertoire and is hugely popular amongst our KS3 pupils).
