About the role

We are working with a Top 50 UK law firm with a strong national and international footprint, who are looking to appoint a Property Disputes Associate to be based in their thriving Birmingham real estate team.

The Property Disputes team provides a fully integrated real estate dispute resolution service, working closely with colleagues across projects, real estate, construction and wider litigation teams.


You will work with a broad range of clients across multiple real estate sectors, including residential and commercial developers, property companies, insurers, institutional investors, insolvency practitioners, housing providers, private investors and occupiers.


Areas of expertise include:


  • Strategic advice to portfolio owners on contentious matters
  • Rights to light, easements and restrictive covenants
  • Commercial landlord and tenant matters (including lease renewals, alienation, rent review and dilapidations)
  • Leasehold enfranchisement (acting for both landlords and tenants)
  • Residential landlord and tenant disputes, particularly service charge disputes and tenancy enforcement
  • Telecommunications matters
  • Property‑related insolvency


The successful candidate will work on a broad range of property disputes, with a particular focus on commercial portfolio and development‑related matters, advising landowners, developers and local authorities.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Handling commercial landlord and tenant disputes (including 1954 Act issues, alienation, break rights and dilapidations)
  • Advising on disputes relating to property contracts and property‑related insolvency
  • Working on real property disputes such as rights of way, adverse possession and restrictive covenants
  • Opportunities to assist on higher‑value residential matters, including investment properties and group actions xwzovoh
  • Managing cases across all levels of Courts and Tribunals
  • Participating in settlement processes, including mediations
  • Building and maintaining strong client and intermediary relationships
  • Contributing to business development initiatives at team and office level
  • Delegating work to junior fee earners and supporting their development
  • Ensuring matters are managed in line with internal compliance and quality standards


Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales
  • 1–4 years’ PQE
  • Prior experience in property disputes is essential
