About the role

Autism Support Worker - Gloucester

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Autism? Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can help pupils develop their confidence, communication and independence?

A specialist school in Gloucester is looking for an Autism Support Worker to join its friendly team on a full-time basis. The school supports pupils with Autism alongside communication, learning, sensory and behavioural needs.

As an Autism Support Worker, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support.
  • Help pupils develop communication and social skills.
  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
  • Encourage independence and life skills.
  • Work alongside teachers and specialist support staff.

This Autism Support Worker role offers the opportunity to develop your understanding of neurodiversity and specialist education. You may support pupils with sensory needs, communication difficulties and behaviour challenges while helping create a calm, engaging and inclusive learning environment.

The Autism Support Worker role would suit a Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Psychology or Criminology Graduate, or caring individual with relevant personal or professional experience. Training and guidance will be provided, so a genuine interest in supporting autistic young people is most important.
