About Simtec

Simtec Materials Testing carries out on-site testing of construction materials, including asphalt and earthworks.

They're opening a brand new site in Milton Keynes, and this role is the first big piece of it.

If you'd rather get stuck in than sit behind a desk, you'll fit right in.

The role

You may be a Site Supervisor already, or a Senior Site Technician looking for a step up. You'll run day-to-day site services, reporting to the Asphalt and Earthworks Operations Manager.

Because the site is new, you'll shape how it works from day one. Success looks like a full jobs board, a confident team and testing that's right first time.

What you'll do

You'll:

• Lead a team of technicians, starting with four, and mentor them to Simtec standards
• Run the jobs board so every technician is booked, busy and on the right job
• Work with the quality team so all site testing meets client specifications
• Carry out site safety inspections and make sure everyone follows the rules
• Book and deliver training, including CSCS and HE passport courses
• Keep the site store organised, with kit calibrated, allocated and repaired
• Check vehicles, review driving reports and sort fleet issues with the fleet coordinator
• Handle absence records and first-stage disciplinaries through Bright HR

What you'll bring

Essential:

• A solid background as a senior site technician and/or supervision in construction materials testing
• Hands-on site testing experience on asphalt or earthworks
• A full UK driving licence

Useful, not essential:

• Experience mentoring or supervising other technicians
• A current CSCS card and HE passport
• Experience scheduling site work or running a jobs board
