Child Protection Lead Practitioner
Purpose of the Role
The Child Protection Lead Practitioner is responsible for leading on safeguarding and child protection practice within the service, ensuring the safety, welfare and best interests of children and young people are promoted at all times. The post holder will provide expert advice, oversight and leadership on child protection matters and ensure compliance with statutory guidance and local safeguarding procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the designated lead for safeguarding and child protection within the service.
Ensure all safeguarding concerns are identified, recorded, escalated and managed appropriately and in line with statutory requirements.
Lead and coordinate child protection cases, including strategy discussions, child protection conferences and core group meetings.
Provide expert advice, guidance and supervision to practitioners on safeguarding and child protection matters.
Work in close partnership with children, families and multi‑agency professionals (including social care, health, police and education).
Ensure risk assessments and safety plans are robust, timely and regularly reviewed.
Maintain accurate, high‑quality records in accordance with organisational policies and data protection legislation.
Promote a culture of safeguarding awareness and accountability across the service.
Identify learning from safeguarding cases and contribute to service improvement and audit activity.
Support investigations into safeguarding concerns and contribute to Serious Case Reviews/Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews where required.Benefits:
