Principal Technologist - Contract

We are seeking a hands-on Principal Technologist to support a major UK Government programme, focused on legacy IT remediation and modernisation.

This is a senior technical role where you'll be actively designing, prototyping, and delivering solutions-not just defining strategy. You'll work closely with engineering teams to rapidly test ideas, refine approaches, and implement practical improvements across complex systems.

Key Experience Required

Strong hands-on engineering / development background
Proven experience building and prototyping technical solutions
Experience working across large-scale or enterprise systems
Ability to work at pace, iterate quickly, and lead technical delivery
Comfortable assessing multiple approaches and driving the best outcome

Contract Details

Rate: £800 xwzovoh per day (Inside IR35)
Duration: 12 months
Location: London, Bristol, or Manchester (Hybrid)
Clearance: BPSS minimum (SC preferred)
