About the role
Overview
An established Mechanical & Electrical design and build contractor operating across diverse commercial and industrial sectors is seeking an experienced Mechanical HVAC Project Manager.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the full lifecycle delivery of HVAC projects, including design coordination, project management, installation oversight, and commissioning. Projects range in value from approximately £50,000 to in excess of £5 million.
The role involves developing technical specifications, managing construction documentation, and coordinating multiple contractors and subcontractors to ensure successful project delivery.
The position is based out of the Nottingham office.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop detailed system specifications and prepare construction drawings, documentation, and equipment schedules for HVAC systems.
* Prepare technical submissions and manage Requests for Information (RFIs) in coordination with project management teams.
* Procure materials, plant, and subcontractor services in line with project requirements.
* Coordinate and manage on-site installation works, including supervision of subcontractors.
* Oversee full project financial control, including cost tracking, forecasting, valuations, and final account agreements.
* Manage variations, change orders, and associated commercial impacts.
* Monitor labour, material expenditure, and project profitability throughout project lifecycle.
* Conduct regular site inspections and attend client, consultant, and subcontractor meetings.
* Resolve technical and operational issues arising during construction and installation phases.
* Oversee commissioning, testing, and handover of HVAC systems.
* Produce and compile Operation & Maintenance (O&M) documentation.
* Provide technical support, guidance, and training to clients as required.
* Maintain awareness of evolving HVAC technologies and industry best practices.
Person Specification / Qualifications
* HNC, HND, or Degree in Mechanical Building Services or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
* Minimum 10 years’ experience in the design and build Mechanical HVAC sector.
* Strong technical understanding of HVAC systems and principles.
* Working knowledge of AutoCAD and familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM) principles (desirable but not essential).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
* Confident working independently and collaboratively within project teams.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
