About the role
I am currently recruiting on behalf of a respected and growing regional contractor seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of commercial management across a diverse portfolio of construction projects. This role offers autonomy, progression, and the chance to shape commercial performance while mentoring junior team members.

The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will lead commercial activities across multiple projects and support the development of the wider commercial team. Responsibilities include:

Managing and delegating work to junior commercial staff
*
Preparing cost‑to‑complete forecasts and project budgets
*
Advising on procurement strategy and preparing subcontract documentation, including bills of quantities
*
Reviewing contract conditions and negotiating amendments with subcontractors and clients
*
Procuring subcontractors and analysing tender costings
*
Managing project costs, valuations, variations, and final accounts
*
Undertaking cost/value reporting and commercial risk management
*
Producing detailed progress reports and providing commercial advice to site teams
*
Reviewing and approving subcontract payments
*
Supporting senior management with contractual claims and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
About You
You will be a confident, detail‑driven commercial professional with the ability to work independently while supporting and developing others. You should demonstrate:

Strong experience in commercial management within construction
*
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build strong relationships internally and externally
*
A proactive, organised approach with the ability to prioritise and work to strict deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
*
High professional standards, confidentiality, and a commitment to safe working practices
*
A flexible, enthusiastic, and conscientious attitude to work
