Housing Options Officer – Cambridge City Contract – ongoing £20.98 ph PAYE or £26.15 ph Umbrella Full time Duties and responsibilties To provide specialist and comprehensive housing advice and options to members of the public and delivering the Council’s statutory homelessness functions, focussed on preventing and relieving homelessness while managing expectations. The post holder will assess customers’ needs and housing options, agreeing these in the form of a ‘personal housing plan’. For customers who are threatened with homelessness this will mean working to prevent homelessness or identify alternative housing options. The post holder will be responding to immediate homelessness situations and arranging placement in emergency accommodation. Where a homeless application is triggered, the post holder will make key decisions about whether the Council’s statutory duties have been discharged and issue formal decision notifications. Work with colleagues and other professionals to offer enhanced housing options which address the problems that are the root cause of the homelessness with a view to securing and sustaining accommodation.
