MERITUS are recruiting for a Software Architect to join our client in an initial 12 month contract from their site in Newcastle.

- NEWCASTLE (HYBRID, 60% ONSITE)
- 12 MONTHS
- SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW The role is based at our Newcastle office.
Flexible working arrangements are in place for the team.
The successful candidate is expected to be in the office 3 days a week, with the opportunity to work 2 days from home.
Responsibilities Work with System Architects to translate business goals and high-level requirements into robust software architectures, balancing performance, security, reliability, and compliance Design scalable, flexible, and maintainable architectures for complex geospatial systems using the latest modern cloud based technologies and tools Identify technical risks early and define pragmatic mitigation strategies Work in an AGILE scrum team, collaborating closely with software engineers, testers and the Product Owner, providing clear guidance and hands-on architectural support Collaborate with development teams to select appropriate technologies, frameworks, and patterns Ensure delivered solutions align with the agreed architecture and meet both functional and non-functional requirements Produce clear, structured documentation covering architecture decisions and design rationale Contribute to and support technical and architectural reviews Skill Set Essential Strong experience xwzovoh designing and owning software architectures for complex systems, preferably in a cloud environment with an awareness of DevSecOps Ability to balance strategic thinking with practical delivery Confidence communicating architectural designs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Experience working in environments with security, reliability, and compliance constraints, preferably in the geospatial domain.
