Operations Manager – Waste Management & Recycling Facility An experienced Operations Manager is required to lead and develop a high-performing production team at a busy waste management and recycling facility in South Yorkshire. Salary: £60,000 – £65,000 + £6,000 Car Allowance + Pension Location: South Yorkshire The Role As Operations Manager, you will have full responsibility for the safe, efficient, and compliant day-to-day operation of a fast-paced processing site. Key responsibilities include: * Managing the intake, processing, and outbound movement of waste and recyclable materials * Ensuring plant machinery and equipment are maintained to maximise operational performance and minimise downtime * Driving compliance across Environmental, Health & Safety, and Quality standards * Leading, motivating, and developing operational and production teams * Supporting commercial objectives and contributing to overall site profitability and performance * Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across operations, productivity, and safety About You To be successful in this role, you will ideally have: * Previous experience managing operations within a waste management, recycling, or heavy industrial environment * A strong operational background working with materials or processes such as biomass, wood waste, scrap metal, plastics, aggregates, construction and demolition waste, composting, landfill, anaerobic digestion, MRF/MBT operations, or similar industrial processing environments * Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to drive performance and engagement * Excellent understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance standards Desirable Qualifications * COTC / WAMITAB qualification (training can be provided if required) * NEBOSH or IOSH certification * Full UK driving licence Suitable Backgrounds This opportunity may suit candidates currently working as or previously employed as: * General Manager * Waste Site Manager * Recycling Operations Manager * MRF Manager * MBT Shift Manager * Transfer Station Manager * Recycling Production Manager * Plant Manager * Skip Hire General Manager
