About the role

SENDCo – Maternity Cover (Fixed-Term Contract) Location: Southend Duration: 1-year fixed term Start date: May 2026 onwards Hours and salary: Negotiable, dependent on experience We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated SENDCo to join the team on a one-year maternity cover fixed-term contract. As SENDCo, you will play a central role in shaping an inclusive provision where high expectations and support go hand in hand. You will work closely with experienced colleagues to ensure that students with SEND are fully supported to access an ambitious curriculum and a broad co-curricular programme. Key responsibilities: * Lead the school’s SEND strategy, ensuring high-quality, inclusive provision that enables all pupils to make strong progress * Ensure full compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and Equality Act, maintaining effective policies, EHCP processes, and accurate reporting * Champion inclusive teaching and learning by supporting staff to deliver adaptive, ambitious classroom practice across all subjects * Develop staff expertise through high-quality professional development and leadership of the SEND Support Team, building whole-school capacity * Monitor outcomes and inclusion data to drive improvement, support effective transitions, and ensure full participation in school life for all SEND students Requirements: * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) * SENDCo qualification We can offer: * Highly motivated, curious, and industrious students * A strong, highly qualified staff team with a genuine family community spirit * A strong commitment to professional development and staff wellbeing * An environment that encourages innovation and evidence-informed practice If this position is of interest to you, please send your CV for consideration.
