Maintenance Engineer Location: Tamworth Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 Hours: Days, Monday to Thursday 08:00 - 17:00, Friday 08:00 - 14:30 Employment Type: Permanent We are looking for a skilled Maintenance Engineer to support the reliable, safe, and efficient operation of production equipment, CNC machinery, and site infrastructure within a precision engineering environment. The successful candidate will take responsibility for planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, fault finding, and improvement activity across a busy manufacturing site. This is a hands-on role that requires strong mechanical and electrical maintenance skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to work independently. Key responsibilities Deliver and maintain the planned preventative maintenance schedule. Diagnose and repair machine faults to minimise downtime. Carry out corrective maintenance, part replacement, and machine adjustments. Monitor machine performance and breakdown trends, recommending reliability improvements. Support process optimisation, machine upgrades, and tooling improvements. Work with production to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, calibration certificates, and spare parts tracking. Ensure all maintenance work complies with ISO standards and site requirements. Support audits by providing maintenance history and compliance documentation. Manage contractors on site and ensure RAMS are in place. Support the installation of new equipment. Carry out weekly fire alarm checks. Promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture at all times.  What we are looking for Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer within precision engineering, machining, or a similar manufacturing environment. Strong mechanical and electrical skills. Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics. Experience with CNC machinery Confident working independently and managing multiple priorities. Experience with TPM, lean manufacturing, or continuous improvement initiatives.
