Social Worker – Medway Council Location: Medway, Kent Contract: Permanent Hours: Full‑time (37 hours per week) Working Pattern: Hybrid working available Salary: Competitive (depending on experience and grade) Job Description Medway Council is recruiting dedicated and qualified Social Workers to join its permanent workforce across statutory services. This role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive local authority environment, delivering high‑quality, person‑centred social work practice to improve outcomes for service users and their families. Key Responsibilities * Undertake assessments, care planning, and reviews in line with statutory duties * Manage a varied caseload, prioritising risk, safeguarding, and positive outcomes * Carry out visits, direct work, and interventions with service users and families * Make clear, proportionate, and evidence‑based decisions * Prepare accurate reports for reviews, meetings, and court (where applicable) * Work collaboratively with multi‑agency partners * Maintain timely, high‑quality case records using council IT systems * Ensure all practice aligns with legislation, council policies, and professional standards Requirements Essential: * Qualified Social Worker (Degree / DipSW / CQSW) * Social Work England registration * Recent UK social work experience * Strong knowledge of safeguarding and relevant legislation * Excellent assessment, communication, and recording skills * Right to work in the UK Desirable: * Local authority experience * Experience within Children’s Services or Adult Social Care * Court work or complex case experience * Familiarity with systems such as Liquidlogic or Mosaic
