Principal Sustainability Consultant
Remote
£60,000 – £70,000 per annum
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an independent, fast-growing building consultancy as a Principal Sustainability Consultant, playing a key role within their established Sustainability & Building Performance team.
Operating fully remotely across the UK, this position offers the chance to lead on high-impact projects, shape sustainability strategies, and influence the direction of a growing team.
The Role
As a senior member of the team, you will take ownership of delivering sustainability and building performance services across a diverse project portfolio.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the delivery of sustainability strategies across multiple developments
Overseeing project performance, ensuring quality, efficiency, and successful outcomes
Managing and mentoring consultants, supporting their technical and professional development
Building and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships
Supporting business growth through client engagement and proposal developmentTechnical Expertise
You will bring strong hands-on experience across:
Dynamic simulation modelling using IES VE
Overheating assessments (CIBSE TM52, TM59, Part O, BB101)
Operational energy modelling (TM54)
Part L compliance (SBEM L2A/L2B) and EPC production
Daylight and planning analysis
Low and zero carbon feasibility studies
Heating and cooling load calculationsLeadership & Commercial Impact
Beyond technical delivery, you will play a key role in shaping the team and wider business:
Leading, mentoring, and developing sustainability consultants
Supporting recruitment and team growth initiatives
Delivering internal training and knowledge-sharing sessions
Contributing to financial planning, forecasting, and project profitability
Strengthening client relationships and supporting ongoing business developmentAbout You
Degree in Sustainability, Building Physics, Environmental Engineering, Architecture, or similar
Extensive experience within sustainability consultancy and building performance modelling
Strong proficiency in IES VE and SBEM
In-depth knowledge of UK building regulations and sustainability frameworks
Proven track record of managing projects and leading teams
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skillsWhat’s on Offer
